These innovative orthoses are for serial management of knee and elbow flexion contractures. They are suitable for a wide range of neuromuscular and orthopedic disabilities.

The orthoses apply a steady extension force through the pad. Simply snug up the straps.

Contracture Management

Design

These orthoses are specially designed for serial management of knee and elbow flexion contractures.  The Orthoses are slim, light and stable on the limb.

The knee orthoses are designed for non-ambulatory use.  Use with a stretching regime for best results. The unique cuffs are pre-moulded and easily bent by hand to the desired shape.

The cuff grips the limb snugly, yet the inner grooves allow air to circulate.

All components are interchangeable for custom sizing.

Benefits

  • Fits a wide range of joint angles

  • Adjusts daily for effective serial management

  • Quick and easy to apply

  • Slim, unobtrusive and cool to wear

Sizing and Fitting

Sizing and Fitting
Knee and Elbow Contracture

Sizing & Fitting

The limb should be extended as far as possible before fitting the orthosis.  The distance should be measured in a straight line from the mid upper arm to the mid lower arm with the limb as fully extended as possible.  (For the knee, measure in straight line from the mid thigh to the mid shank with the limb as fully extended as possible). This distance sets the Side Bar length.

The circumference should be measured at the upper and lower mid points of the limb.  The Cuff Size is half of this circumference.  For example, a Cuff 7 will fit a limb with a circumference of 14”.

The Knee or Elbow Pad issized in between the Cuff sizes.

The Orthosis should be fitted with the limb as fully extended as is comfortable. The straps for the Knee or Elbow pads should be snugged up and excess trimmed off. The straps can be snugged up as the flexion contracture is reduced.

For the best results, use with daily stretching.

Custom Orthoses

Select the components from the Individual Components table.  Each Orthosis requires a distal and a proximal cuff, based on the measurements of the limb, and corresponding cuff straps.  Each Orthosis also requires two sidebars, based on the measurement of “L”, and a Pad.

A

The cuff size is half the circumference of the limb. For example a CUFF7 will fit a 14” circumference limb.

The circumference should be measured at the upper and lower mid points of the limb

Side bar lengths

L

These polished stainless steel bars are supplied in pairs.

Side Bar length is set by extending the limb to its fullest extension, then measuring in straight line between the mid-points of the upper and lower limb.
