Fidlock Magnetic Buckle
Headband secures and releases with one touch.
A self-aligning magnetic closure replaces the cam buckle. The strap retains the same tension when reattached.

Breathable low-profile strap
Low shear and breathable anterior head support.
The new anterior forehead strap is lower profile and is constructed of low shear lycra covering 4-way stretch air mesh. ​

Silicone Internal Pads
18% lighter. Low heat retention and increased pressure relief.

New injection molded Silicone internal padding has made the Savant lighter than ever, while still providing comfortable support.​
Use for Savant Head Positioning

Progressive neuromuscular disease. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is one of the most frequently cited uses, since neck-extensor weakness causes anterior head drop; the Savant is used frequently for ALS and other head-control issues. Muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, and myasthenia gravis fall in the same category.

Cerebral palsy and other congenital/developmental conditions. Children and adults with CP often have lateral lean, head rotation, or dystonic movement that the Savant's high lateral and mid-lateral pads are designed to manage.

Acquired brain and spinal cord injury. Traumatic brain injury, high-level (cervical) spinal cord injury, and the after-effects of severe stroke, where trunk and neck control are compromised.

Other neurodegenerative and movement disorders. Advanced multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and related syndromes (including conditions causing "dropped head"), and Huntington's disease.

Hypotonia and general debility. Any condition producing low muscle tone or profound weakness, including some genetic syndromes and end-stage frailty, where the person can't hold the head upright independently.
Savant + Carbon Cover​
The Carbon Cover is a new option for the Savant Head Positioning system that offers a durable and low-shear vinyl material which reduces friction from head movement. The Carbon Cover can be easily wiped with a cleaning solution or disinfectant to maintain a clean and low-profile head positioning device.
The Savant + Carbon Cover offers the same custom gel head-positioning as the original Savant but with the added benefit of reduced friction and easy infection control.
Options and Accessories
In addition to the three sizes, Savant Head Positioning also offers three configurations of the arm supports.
A forehead positioning strap is always included.

Side Pads
To be used for increased temporal support. These pads are ready to be bolted on. The Savant has pre-threaded holes ready to mount Side Pads.
Forehead Strap
The quick release forehead strap is rigid and will not fall down over the eyes. It is included with every Savant.
The soft forehead strap pad is breathable and soft. The strap is nylon and the pad has soft lycra covering air mesh. It can be machine washed and replaced as necessary.
The buckles can be removed if the strap is not required.
